Scholarship in Sejong University

Scholarship for International Students
1. International students (including ethnic Korean Chinese):
a. To be eligible for a full scholarship (enrollment fee + tuition fee), one of the following
criteria must be satisfied:
(1) A person who is recommended by the dean of the institution that has an
exchange/sister university relationship with Sejong University (see a
list of the universities with exchange/sister university relationships with
Sejong University)

(2) A person who is recommended by a foreign government (ex: a letter of
recommendation by the minister of education)

(3) A person who meets a) or b) AND at least one of the c) language ability
requirements below:
a) A person who is recommended as a researcher for an external research
project by the leading researcher of the project (a professor)
b) A person who is recommended by the dean of the college (only 1 student
can be selected per year; applicable to the Liberal Arts, Social Science and
Arts and P.E. divisions only):
c) ① The official language ability satisfies the minimum score requirements

A student whose mother tongue is English is exempted from submitting the
language ability test result.

② A person who can communicate in Korean, Chinese (China-related
program candidates) or Japanese (Japanese-related program candidates)
during classes should submit a letter of verification issued by the head of
the department.
(ex: certificate of ability to complete courses in Korean).
b. To be eligible for a 50% fee reduction (enrollment fee + tuition fee), one of the
following criteria must be satisfied:
(1) The official language ability satisfies the minimum score requirements below:

A student whose mother tongue is English is exempted from submitting the
language ability test result.

(2) A person who can communicate in Korean, Chinese (China-related program
candidates) or Japanese (Japanese-related program candidates) during classes
should submit a letter of verification issued by the head of the department
(ex: certificate of ability to complete courses in Korean).
2. International Students in Asian Studies
a. To be eligible for a full scholarship (enrollment fee + tuition fee), one of the
following criteria must be satisfied:
(1) A person who is recommended by the president of a school that has a
mutual exchange agreement with Sejong University
(see http://cm.sejong.ac.kr/user/oia/ for a list of the universities with
exchange/sister university relationships with Sejong University)

(2) A person who is recommended by a foreign government (ex: a letter of
recommendation by the minister of education)
b. To be eligible for an 80% fee reduction (enrollment fee + tuition fee), one of
the following criteria must be satisfied:
(1) A main lecturer of the Graduate School
c. To be eligible for a 60% fee reduction (enrollment fee + tuition fee), one of
the following language ability criteria must be satisfied:
The official language ability is above the score specified below;
(1) The official language ability satisfies the minimum score requirements below:

A student whose mother tongue is English is exempted from submitting the language
ability test result.

(2) A person who can communicate in Korean during classes and submits a letter
of verification issued by the head of the department (ex: certificate of ability to
complete courses in Korean).
3. If an international student satisfies the eligibility criteria above for the
fee/tuition reductions during his/hers study, the reduction shall take effect
from the semester that immediately follows the one in which the student
satisfies the criteria.
4. The reduction for foreign students is valid for the periods set under
Article 12 of the Graduate School Regulations: Minimum Year Requirement
for Graduation Period (under-to-postgraduate programs: 1 year and 6 months;
postgraduate and Ph.D. programs: 2 years; master’s-PhD programs: 4 years).
