UNESCO World Heritage Volunteer!

Today was rather a unique day for me. Early in the morning, I had to go to Mia Station Which is in the other end of where I live to do some volunteer work. I volunteered in a program supported by UNESCO wherein we will be teaching elementary school children about Filipino culture as well as the selected UNESCO World Heritage site in the Philippines.

All the Filipino instructors are going to teach specifically about Tubbataha Reef Natural Park. It is a paradise as the people who have been there call it. It provides home to various endangered yet unique marine and bird species which is one of the reasons why it is part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage.

It is my 4th time to volunteer in teaching Korean students here in Korea. As Korea wanted to become more globalized as well as being more open to multiculturalism, there are various avenues for us to share what we have in the Philippines.

Amazingly, the grade 4 students are very active and responsive to our class discussion and activities. I hope they do remember at least few things about our discussion.

Seeing them smile and grab the opportunity to respond to our questions or even to ask questions gives me a lighter and brighter day to look forward to.
