After our volunteer teaching tasks in Mia station, I went straight and rushly to Gangnam-gu office station for the All Together Top Talent Contest of Arirang.
Few weeks ago, I received an email from Yeoksam Global Village which announces about the contest wherein I asked my co-scholars here to join.
Both of them, Raechelle Montalbo and Gracey Maquiniana, joined and performed today.
Raechelle sang a Korean song 가로수 그늘 아래 서면 - When I Stand under the Roadside Tree (가수: 이문세) and played the guitar. She caught the hearts of the judges as well as the hosts with the touching song as well as with her wonderful voice. Aside from that, she was asked on the spot to sing and play a Filipino song, which she did - Turete.

Arirang Top Talent : Raechelle Montalbo
Gracey danced a Tahitian dance and caught the attention of the judges as well with her gracefulness. Just as her name implies.
They both won the grand prize (대상) and the 1st runner up (우수상) which we are very proud of as they were again able to show the unique talents that Filipinos have. They grabbed the top prizes and Raechelle will be competing again in July for the grand finals.

Go Philippines! Again, Congratulations and continue to show the talents of the Filipinos to the world :)!
Moral support from the Filipino scholars! =)
Coming to Korea made me feel proud of my country, Philippines. It is time for us to show people from all over the world that we are not as weak as they seem to view us. Apparently, most of the contests, performances, activities, we participate to, Filipinos are excelling and seldom do we come home empty handed.
In this age of globalization, we must accept differences. We must accept that there are people, countries and economies who are stronger and weaker yet these things do not necessarily indicate that people from those places are wiser or the other way compared to yours. The same as the nature of ants - we should never look down on the capability of what ants can do. Even as small as they are, it can manage to carry weight 50x more than theirs.
