Just 2 weeks ago, I received a message through email and SMS from G20 Summit Organizing Committee that they are having a G20 Volunteers' Experience Essay Contest and so we can join and share what we have experienced. I know my limitations in Korean Language but I know my experiences as a foreign volunteer also matters and is unique in nature. Thus, I decided to join despite all my researches, final exams, papers, etc.

The requirement is minimum 2 pages worth, A4 paper, Font 12. Imagine, how can I write a 2 pages essay in Korean?! That was my first reaction. But then when I started writing, it seems like 2 pages was not really a lot. It took me about 3-4 hours writing it. I asked my Korean Language Teacher to help me out in checking my grammar, as well as 2 of my Korean friends who are kind enough to proofread and edit final touches... Thank God to all these good samaritans. =) December 9 around 1:55pm, I received a call from the G20 Summit Organizing Committee that I won an award for the Essay Contest and that I have to attend the Closing Ceremony (해단식) to be held at Sejong Cultural Center in Gwanghwamun, 4pm on December 14.

To my excitement, I ran and immediately called my Korean Language Teacher who helped me, 구만지 (Koo Min Ji). My teacher cannot recognize or understand what I am talking about as I was running out of breath!

Here you go, these are the photos from the event earlier this day:

This was an unexpected victory but wanted it! It encourages me to even learn more Korean. I do hope that my university will continue to offer classes for us.

I do thank my friends, teachers and the officials of The Catholic University of Korea who approved the budget of our Korean Language Class for us to learn further. This semesters' class was really a blast! =)

Thank you!!!! =)
