Senator Angara & General Cimatu Meet

27 November 2010
Philippine Embassy, Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea

Amidst the uncertainties whether there will be an upcoming war between the 2 Korean countries, we had our dinner meeting with Senator Edgardo Angara in the Philippine Embassy in Itaewon, Seoul. Despite all the news and analysis shown in the media, we are not experiencing and feeling any tensions. Everyone continues their own lives as usual - just like their ordinary routines. So did we...

In the Dinner Meeting with Senator Angara, we first had our "talk/meeting/forum". It was hosted by PIKO President Danvir.

Of course, before everything started, we had our one and only Ambassador Luis Cruz who spoke in front of around 80-90 scholars in and near Seoul. His first words were: Before coming here, I checked my Facebook account and noticed some "pagtatampo" posted in the walls of the scholars. Before Ambassador proceed further, I knew what he will be talking about. One of the scholars just felt some "pagtatampo" because the news did not include "students" in their evacuation plan for the 50,000 OFWs in Korea should the conflict escalates.

With this, Ambassador Luis Cruz started with an Apology to us.

The meeting was originally to see how scholars are doing here in Korea but then with the current developments with the 2 Koreas, it was as well an opportunity to ask about the security, etc. Senator Angara has been emphasizing education as well as learning from the experts in other countries who lead in the industry. Senator Angara as well as Ambassador Luis Cruz have high hopes that the scholars now will return home and share the learning for the development of the Philippines in the long run.

This meeting also became the reunion of Filipino scholar - Mario Rebosura, Jr. and the "rescuer" - Special Envoy General Roy Cimatu.

In addition, today was also the awarding of Excellence Award to Jemuel, Apologies of Ambassador Cruz to the students.
